Galentine’s Day… let’s start there.

Obviously, not really a thing for us guys. But now I’m low-key wondering, if we did have something like that, what would we call it? Bro-lentine’s? Fellas & Fragrance? Food for thought for another day.

I was invited to host a candle-making event for a Galentine’s Day celebration. Full disclosure, I was a little nervous because I haven’t done a class since leaving our Bethesda location last year in 2025.

Then the host asked me if I had a pink shirt.

I did not.

But luckily, when she asked, I happened to be at Michaels grabbing some other things (like any good crafter does), so I grabbed a pink shirt while I was there. One band, one sound. One team, one fight! 😂

So anyway, for anyone wondering what I customized my shirt with…

Very small on the front it reads: “Authenticity is the highest frequency.”

Why did I print it so small?

Because that very notion is one of those small details that many people miss. But if you notice it…

Okay, it was really just an opportunity for me to be "fake deep"… as usual. lol But really, Authenticity IS the highest frequency. I started by setting up the fragrance bar, laying out carefully curated scent options (Good Girl, Vanilla Fantasy, Jasmine, and Japanese Cherry Blossom) and helping pour each person's chosen fragrance into their jigger. Some wanted to blend fragrances to capture their mood so I stepped into full bartender mode. The host’s daughter did an amazing job helping me pass out our black bamboo serving trays, loaded with everything they needed — gloves, plastic aprons, stirring sticks, pouring mugs, and those beautiful pink candle jars. Oh, and of course the essentials: wood candle wicks, candle clips, and wick stickers.

Once fragrances were poured, we moved into the hands-on portion.

I guided everyone step by step through the candle-making process:

• Attaching the wood wick to the wick clip

• Adding the adhesive sticker to secure the wick

• Centering everything perfectly inside their pink candle jar

After that, it was time to have fun creating candles while I answered questions.

They poured their chosen fragrances, asked questions, laughed through small spills, and fully embraced the creative process. My role shifted from instructor to hype man, encouraging experimentation, celebrating scent choices, and reminding everyone that there’s no “wrong” way to make a candle when you’re pouring with intention.

What made the experience even better? The people.

I met some genuinely cool women, shared stories, talked wellness, and watched strangers become friends over fragrance notes and melted wax. And yes, being the only guy in the room was interesting (and hilarious), but honestly, it made the energy even lighter.

By the end of the class, everyone walked away with a custom candle they created themselves ,and I walked away feeling grateful. Especially since they also purchased lots of our handmade, natural body butter as well that the host was gracious enough to allow me to put on display for anyone who wanted to support.
